Abstract

By use of cultures the alternation of four isomorphic sexually propagating generations ofAcrosiphonia arcta was proved. On the basis ofJónsson's descriptions and figures, his statement concerning a heteromorphous cycle is interpreted as referring to a combination of the normal development of the filamentousAcrosiphonia arcta and the unicellular sporophytic stage of a member of the Ulotrichales.

Zusammenfassung

Nach viermaliger Folge isomorpher Geschlechtsgenerationen mußAcrosiphonia arcta als monözischer Diplont angesehen werden. Der einzellige Sporophyt inJónssons Kulturen, der ihn auf einen heteromorphen Generationswechsel schließen ließ, gehört nicht in den Lebenszyklus vonAcrosiphonia arcta.
