Ein Beitrag zur Taxonomie der GattungChaetomorpha (Cladophorales, Chlorophyta)
A contribution to the taxonomy of the genusChaetomorpha (Cladophorales, Chlorophyta)

Abstract
Since the taxonomy of the genusChaetomorpha is rather confused, species are now characterized on the basis of biological features. Reproduction and peculiarities of ontogenetical development and growth are elucidated by culture experiments; and cross-fertilization between the species is used for delimitation of relationship. The biological species concept ofChaetomorpha linum is based on material from the type locality. On the other hand,Chaetomorpha aerae has well-defined characters which clearly differentiate it fromCh. linum. In the present study,Chaetomorpha samples originating from Danish waters, coastal areas of the German Sea, Anglesey (North Wales), the NW coast of Spain and the Gulf of Naples are compared.
Zusammenfassung
