Abstract

Mixtures of iodinated iodohydric acid and chloralhydrate are used to stain and simultanously macerate dinoflagellate carapaces. The cells can be flattened by squashing.Cachonina niei Loeblich (1968), first reported from California (USA), is recorded for the North Sea and described in detail. The organism known under the name ofProtoceratium reticulatum (Clap. & Lachm.) is shown to posses characteristics (e. g. a sulcus), which place it into the genusGonyaulax; its correct name isG. grindleyi Reinecke (1967).

Zusammenfassung

1. Eine auf Mischungen von Jod-Jodwasserstoffsäure mit Chloralhydrat basierende Methode zur Darstellung der Panzerstruktur von Peridineen wird angegeben. Diese erlaubt die Herstellung von Quetschpräparaten.

2. Die ursprünglich aus Californieren bekanntgewordeneCachonina niei Loeblich (1968) wird für die Nordsee nachgewiesen und ihre Beschreibung vervollständigt.

3.Protoceratium reticulatum, dessen Sulcusstruktur nähere Analyse erfährt, muß alsG. grindleyi zur GattungGonyaulax gestellt werden.
